Matchday Insights

SoccerScanner tracked 204 completed matches at 2.8 goals per game. Over 2.5 landed in 51% of fixtures, Over 3.5 in 30.4%, and both teams scored in 40.2%. Closing stages still decided plenty of outcomes: 43 games (21.1%) produced a goal after the 80th minute, and 50 (24.5%) after the 75th — including Egypt W’s 2–6 Africa Women Cup of Nations defeat to Nigeria W after trailing 1–4 at the 80th, Finland Kolmonen - Eastern Group’s JIPPO II 7–4 against PK-37 from 5–3, Denmark Landspokal Cup’s Odder 2–3 versus Skive after 1–1 late, and Poland Polish Cup’s Olimpia Grudziądz 5–3 win over Świt Skolwin from 3–2.

Goal volume clustered hard in a few competitions. Finland Kolmonen - Eastern Group led the board at 6.25 goals across four matches — every fixture Over 2.5, BTTS in 75%. Europe UEFA Women's Champions League averaged 4.15 over twenty games (Over 2.5 in 85%, late goals in 50%), while Denmark Landspokal Cup ran at 4.14 across seven fixtures with Over 2.5 in every match. Romania Cup supplied the heaviest featured sample at twenty-five matches and 3.72 goals per game (Over 2.5 in 76%, late goals in 32%). Poland Polish Cup sat at 3.18 across eleven games, yet produced late goals in 63.6% of that slate — the sharpest late-drama rate among the larger samples — while CONCACAF Central American Cup saw late goals in all three of its fixtures.

Usable low-scoring samples were thin once zero-goal regional cups were discarded as incomplete. Brazil Copa Rio averaged just 0.75 goals across four matches with Over 1.5 at 0%. Among featured leagues, Scotland Football League - Highland League was the quieter end at 2.67 goals over nine games — Over 2.5 in only 33.3%, BTTS in 33.3%, and no late-goal rate of note.

Expected-goals readings that survived quality checks were scarce. In Europe Champions League, AGF scored 2 from 0.84 xG at home to Sabah in a 2–1 win, while Fenerbahçe’s 2–0 over Sturm Graz sat on a cleaner gap of 1.07 vs 0.32 xG. Team rows showing zero expected goals against multi-goal tallies, or twenty-plus xG for a single side, were ignored as missing or broken data.

Shot data underlined how finishing swung outcomes. Across the full day it took 2.57 shots on target per goal (1,469 on target, 572 goals), and 30 sides registered 10+ shots on target. TuPS turned 23 on target into 7 goals in Finland Kolmonen - Southern Group; Montrose W posted 21 on target and 8 goals away in Scotland SWPL Cup; Greenisland W converted 19 on target into 5 goals in Northern Ireland Championship Women. In Europe Champions League, AGF hit 66.7% conversion from three shots on target, while Fenerbahçe needed 10 on target for 2 goals.

Form runs kept pointing forward. AGF arrived on a 12-match scoring sequence in Europe Champions League, Fenerbahçe and Sabah each carried 9-match scoring streaks into the same competition, Iceland’s Keflavík sat on a 12-match scoring run in Iceland Besta deild, and Diriangén brought matching 12-match scoring and 10-match BTTS streaks into CONCACAF Central American Cup.

Overall, it was a selective, late-game session — Finnish and Danish cups lighting up the scoreboard, women’s Champions League and the Polish Cup driving stoppage-time drama, and a compact marketplace slate still finishing firmly in profit.
